We actually beat that white car (the eventual champion) in this heat, but it was rerun as a result of the ever changing rules of Boy Scout pinewood. In the first race it came off the track without fouling any other car, which should have placed it in 4th, but the race was rerun anyway and we placed 2nd. Pinewood was a major reminder of why I wasn't in scouts as a kid.
